Manesar: Anant Raj Group faces buyers' anger for delay in project

Source : 30 Sep, 2018

Irked over the delay in possession of their homes, buyers in the Madelia housing project staged a protest outside the developer’s office in Manesar on Saturday.

The buyers alleged the developer was not showing any interest in completing the project, despite the Supreme Court handing it over to the state government in March this year.

The Madelia project spread across 12 acres of land was launched by the Anant Raj Group in 2009. Bookings started in 2011 and the project was supposed to be completed in 2014.

However, the project got entangled in the Manesar land scam and was handed over to Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (HSIIDC). Both the homebuyers and the builder have submitted claims for refund to the corporation as per the Supreme Court’s order. Also, the homebuyers have submitted a review petition in the top court against the March order. The homebuyers, however, protested, claiming the builder was taking no interest in completing Madelia. “Other builders in the area are working towards finishing the project, but Anant Raj Group is hiding behind the excuse that it hasn’t been invited by HSIIDC yet,” said Nishant Gupta, an investor.

The homebuyers said they want Anant Raj to take charge by proactively submitting a proposal to HSIIDC showing inclination to complete this project.

“We have put in our hard earned money in the project in the hope of getting our home. We paid almost 70% of the total cost for our homes. Later, the projects in that area were stuck due to farmers’ agitation and this year, the Supreme Court reversed the acquisition of that land and returned it to HSIIDC,” said Babita Malhotra, a homebuyer. “We want the government and the court to penalise the builder for leaving all the buyers in a lurch,” she added.

A spokesperson for Anant Raj Group said the project has been handed over to the HSIIDC. “We are complying with the Supreme Court order and have already filed our claim, and waiting for further instructions from HSIIDC,” the spokesperson added
