There are currently over 400 cases being heard in the MP RERA court. Final orders have been passed in about 40 of them. In several cases penalties have been levied for delayed delivery. “In many cases the builders have agreed for a compromise and have compensated the allottees for delays,” said Anthony.
About 80% of the applications are from urban areas and 20% are from the rural areas. Among those from urban areas, majority are from the Bhopal
. “However, it is to be noted that MP is perhaps the only state to have extended the requirement of registration to projects in non-planning (rural) areas as well,” added Anthony.
As for the advertisement being carried out by builder fraternity during the festive season MP-RERA has made it very clear that no advertising can be done without RERA registration. “We have already initiated prosecution against those breaking this rule. The public too have been urged not to make bookings in projects which do not bear a RERA registration number,” said Anthony.
